Jacksonville Florida Fans Are Keeping an Eye on Team News

Friday, February 29th, 2008

When you live in Jacksonville and are a football fan, whether or not you love your home team or you have loyalties elsewhere, chances are good that your ears perk up a little when team news starts getting around – especially if you’ve been going through withdrawals over the past few weeks since the season ended.

Take the recent news for example:

The Jaguars have given three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Marcus Stroud permission to seek a trade, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who discussed the situation Thursday on ESPN’s First Take.

Also, the Jaguars are in discussions with the Detroit Lions to acquire defensive tackle Shaun Rogers, according to a league source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because such moves can’t officially be transacted until today — the start of the NFL’s new year. Detroit reportedly is seeking a second- or third-round pick as compensation for Rogers.

If Stroud leaves, that means that Jacksonville fans are going to have to get used to a new player. If Shaun Rogers comes to the team, well. . .

In other words, when you live in Jacksonville you’re going to find that while the news is hot, your neighbors are going to be talking about it.

What Do Florida’s First Coast Communities Have to Offer?

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

There are a number of reasons why people make the choice to visit and to live in Florida’s First Coast communities, and that makes it a little bit difficult to explain all of what the First Coast communities have to offer. But that won’t stop us from trying!

When you visit or live in Jacksonville, you’ll find that you are able to take advantage of world class entertainment, of professional sporting events, of great restaurants and a big city that’s managed to maintain a bit of a small town feel.

Likewise, those who spend time in St. Augustine will find that galleries, great restaurants and a rich part of American history are all right there waiting to be explored. Those who want the beach and nothing but the beach will find that Ponce Inlet has everything that you’ve dreamed of – everything that you hoped to find when you moved into a coastal community.

Actually, what you’ll find is this: most of the things that make Florida’s First Coast communities a great place to visiit help to make it an even better place to live!

Why Buy a Florida Condominium?

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

When you get right down to it, there are a number of reasons why someone would make the decision to invest in a Florida condo. Here are some of the most common reasons:

  1. A Florida condo is a great investment. When you want to be sure that you have a beach home when you want it – and a property that you can lease out when you won’t be using it – a Florida condo just makes sense.
  2. Florida condominiums are great for those at all stages of life: whether you’re looking for your first home, a retirement home or anything in between, a Florida condo fits the bill.
  3. Living in Florida offers many benefits – from fishing and golf to simply great weather, a Florida condo gives you access to all of the best.
  4. A Florida condo is a great place to have for the family. It may be an investment property now, but some day, you might find that your kids (or grandkids) would love to have it as a full time home.

What’s your reason for looking into buying a Florida condo? Whether it’s an obvious reason, or something entirely personal, you’ll find that the right condominium os out there just waiting for you to find it.

It’s Easy to Get Around when You Live in Jacksonville

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Jacksonville has a great deal to offer – especially when you live in the center of it all – or at least in the center of everything that you reall enjoy doing.

jacksonville ariel mapWhen you live at The Chelsea Lofts in Jacksonville, you’ll find that walking to some of your favorite places to be is simple: just head out to the Cummer Museum or take a quick walk to grab a bite to eat or talk with some friends.

Walking is easy – when you’re close enough to all of the places where you enjoy spending time (and even to work, where you may enjoy your time a little bit less), you’re able to save on gas, stress less about finding parking and just enjoy yourself more.

Of course, with the interchange not far away, getting into downtown Jacksonville doesn’t pose much of a challenge either. As a result, there’s really nothing that you can’t enjoy.

What Does Living in Florida Mean to You?

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Living in Florida: for everyone who makes the choice it means something a little bit different. For some, living in Florida is a dream situation – it’s something that they have always planned for, an opportunity to enjoy the beach at their leisure or to have the retirement that they had looked forward to even before they started down a career path.

For others, living in Florida isn’t so much about living a dream. It’s about building a career , about spending time with family and friends. It’s a chance to explore the arts and to get a feel for what the future might hold.

Some live in Florida because of the climate; still others go there because of the variety of opportunities that they will have to explore the arts and to find inspiration.

Whether it’s the arts or sports that draw a person to living in Florida, whether it’s about work or play (or a combination of the two), most people find that living in Florida means something to them: what would it mean to you?

3 First Coast Communities to Explore

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

When it comes to spending time in Florida’s First Coast communities often proves to be rewarding. The challenge, however, comes in determining the appropriate First Coast community that will be right for you.

First, there’s Jacksonville where you’ll get the whole city experience – bars, museums, clubs, outdoor parks, sporting events, gallery shops – coupled with enough of a smaller town feel that you will be able to connect with others.

Then there’s Ponce Inlet. If you’re looking for a great area where you will be able to relax, an area that isn’t particularly developed so that you can celebrate natural beauty and be able to get away from it all, Ponce Inlet is a great option.

Finally, if you’re looking for something that’s a little bit between the two, a place that has a long rich history, then you owe it to yourself to spend some time in St. Augustine. Whether you’re looking for beaches, an example of what life was like well before the United States was the United States, or something else in between, St. Augustine has it.

Each of these First Coast communities offers plenty for you to explore and experience and, oh yeah, living there isn’t so bad either.

Florida’s Beaches Are a Great Place for Spending Time with the Kids

Florida Beaches

When it comes to family and spending time with the kids while they are still young, there is little that compares with the time that you spend on a Florida Beach. Between the waters of the Atlantic, beachcombing for shells and other treasures, building sandcastles, playing frisbee or volleyball, or just sitting on the sand talking, there’s always something that can be done.

Many families reserve trips to Florida’s beaches for vacations; others make the decision early on that rather than simply visiting a Florida beach community, they’re ready to call the area "home."

When you make your home in a Florida beach community, you’ll find that it’s easy to get out with your younger kids, engage in play and just stay connected. When your kids get older, sure, they’ll probably be more inclined to spend time at the beach with their friends than with their family – but then, when the beach is within walking distance or just beyond your yard, that’s going to prove to be far less problematic.

Florida’s First Coast Communities Come Together to Be Sure Residents Are Safe

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Florida’s First Coast is a great place to live – and in order to keep it that way community leaders and law enforcement agencies come together to develop a plan:

(source)It was part of the Justice Coalition’s “Together We Can” Breakfast. The Justice Coalition uses the money raised by the event to help crime victims.

The event also gives those victims the chance to raise awareness about unsolved crimes.

Unfortunately, there really isn’t any place where residents will be completely safe: those whose homes are wired for security as well as those who live in communities where there’s an active investment in keeping residents as safe as possible are sure to find that they have a great deal more peace of mind than others.

Wouldn’t you rather live in a place where your safety was a priority?

Which Florida Arts Are the Most Appealing to You?

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

When it comes to the Florida arts, everyone has their own sense about what’s important – of what’s appealing to them.

For some, it’s all about music. In some cases, it’s all about the symphony and seeing an orchestra play music that’s been played for centuries. In other cases, it’s all about getting out to the night clubs and bars to see the newest up and coming band or singer-songwriter.

Others find that paintings capture their attention. They visit museums, they go to open studios and they take part in courses that will help them to learn more about painting. Still others look at multimedia art, sculpture, glassworks and other visual arts and see that there are talents that they wish they had or envy in others.

Whether you are drawn to music or visual art forms or you find yourself emotionally charged by a night out at the theater, there’s always something to explore. The Florida arts are definitely alive and well.
