In other words, when you are looking into buying a Florida condo, you are going to want to make sure that you are looking into homes that are in a community that will be comfortable for you.

One of the things that you are going to be able to do is to take the time to research areas like Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Ponce Inlet, St. Augustine, Amelia Island and similar areas to see whether or not they appeal to you. Specifically, you are going to want to make sure that you are taking a much closer look at the different communities in the area of Florida where you want to buy a condo.

Jacksonville Residents Can Learn a Lot About History

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

One of the things that’s great about living in Jacksonville – or, at the very least within a short disctance from Jacksonville – is that you are in an area with a rich history. While Black History Month is drawing to a close, it’s important to consider that, among the many museums in Jacksonville, the LaVilla Museum documents a great deal of history.

Some of the exhibits at the LaVilla Museum are permanent – focused on religion, business, schools and other elements that create a well-rounded life (and detail the history of those in the region). Right now, however, it’s possible to take in a traveling exhibition that focuses on the use of cloth:

(source) Another exhibit in the museum is the textile display, which is a temporary exhibit, but worth the trip. It’s called Silent Oratory. The colorful exhibit recounts African history through textile.

“We really wanted to show the depth of how cloth is used in African culture to express history, culture, art and even political status,” said museum assistant Adonnica Toler.

Visitors can experience the museum each week, Tuesday through Sunday. The local history exhibit is a permanent feature and the textile exhibit will be here through September.

In other words, if you want to be sure that you are able to get a fuller perspective on history with a unique slant, Jacksonville’s a great place to find it – especially thanks to exhibits like those at the LaVilla Museum that showcase just how much history has been made.

Celebrating Diversity in Florida Communities

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

One of the things that you are going to find if you are looking into living in FLorida is that there is no one “type” of person who makes the choice to live in a Florida communit. There’s going to be a wide variety of people who are attracted to the area – those who are just starting a family, those who have retired, students, empty-nesters and more. As a result, it should not come as a surprise that one of the first things that people notice about Northeastern Florida is the diversity.

This diversity is something that those in elected positions do not take lightly – and it’s part of the reason why a diversity conference will be taking place:

(source)The bar associations of Jacksonville were commended by Florida Supreme Court Justice Barbara Pariente for their initiative in the discussion of diversity in the legal community days after new United States Attorney General Eric Holder referred to the U.S. as a “nation of cowards” in regards to race relations.

Pariente was the keynote speaker at the first Diversity Symposium hosted by a collection of Jacksonville Bar Associations including the Asian American Bar Association, Christian Legal Society, D.W. Perkins Bar Association, Hispanic Bar Association, Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, Jacksonville Bar Association and Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association.

“I congratulate you on organizing this first diversity symposium,” said Pariente. “After attending other diversity symposiums, my observation is this, that without all of us here together change is less likely to occur. It’s less likely to occur if women lawyers just talk to women lawyers. It’s less likely to occur if African-American lawyers talk to African-American lawyers.”

In other words, one of the things that you are going to find as you look into living in one of Florida’s communities is simple: you’re going to see a space where everyone’s interests are taken into consideration and everyone is welcomed.

Florida Real Estate Sales Are Up, But Prices Are Down

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

If you have always wanted to look into buying Florida real estate, one of the things that you’re going to want to remember is that now is a great time to buy. Not only are you going to find that you are in a position to negotiate a great deal and to buy Florida real estate at a bargain, but you are also going to find that there are a variety of properties that are available.

Of course, not all of the news for those who are looking into buying Florida real estate is quite that great; there is a little bit of a drawback involved. Because Florida real estate prices are so affordable right now, you’re going to want to be sure that you are thinking about the competition – the number of other buyers in the area who are looking for real estate. After all, real estate sales are up simply because prices are down.

As a result, if you are thinking about buying Florida real estate, you are going to want to take a closer look at those communities that have always appealed to you. You’re going to want to be sure that, if you are interested in buying Florida real estate while it’s affordable, you aren’t waiting around until the ideal opportunity has passed you by. Mostly, however, you are just going to want to get in touch with an area real estate professional who can help you to find the Florida property that is all that you’re looking for and more.

Working for the Weekend in Jacksonville?

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

If you love the weekends in Jacksonville but feel a bit like you could go without a lot of the day to day grind, one of the things that you’re going to realize is that even though you can hit the beach during the week and can go out any night for a great meal, sometimes you just want to plan for the end of the week.

If you’re ready to start making your plans for the weekend coming up and you live in or near Jacksonville, here are a few items that you might want to think about adding to your calendar:

  • Friday night at 6:30PM there is a Whiskey Tasting at The Hilltop Club followed by a bus trip for a pub crawl in St. Augustine
  • Saturday has the Games and Festival at Clay County Fairgrounds, followed by either an evening of Scottish music or another bus trip for a pub crawl, this one heading to Jacksonville Beach
  • Sunday’s going to give you the chance to help out the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus by attending the Sunday Seranade Champagne Brunch, various musical and theatrical performances.

In other words, no matter what you’re really interested in doing, you’re going to find that there are a variety of events and, well, sometimes you’re going to realize that having a sense of what they are puts you in a better position to launch your new week.

Is Buying Florida Real Estate Something that You Want to Do?

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Almost everyone who makes that trip to Florida consider the fact that living in the area would have it’s rewards, so it’s no surprise when people start to look into buying Florida real estate. Of course, that doesn’t mean that the process of buying Florida real estate is going to be the same for everyone.

If you’re thinking about buying Florida real estate, one of the things that you’re going to want to be sure of is that you are choosing the right Florida community.

Moving with a family? The kids might want to insist that you move to Orlando so that they can be right there for the theme parks, but really, living in such a tourist community isn’t for everyone. That’s what a lot of people who want to be sure that the kids are able to have a well-rounded experience look to areas like Jacksonville when they look for a home – it gives them easy access to the parks, to the beach and to a great city.

There are plenty of good things to be said for buying Florida real estate in other areas on the Northeast coast of the state. Ponce Inlet, St. Augustine, Daytona Beach: all of these cities have a lot to offer those who are looking into buying Florida real estate – why not take the time to explore them for yourself? There are some great bargains to be found; if you’ve always wants to have a home in the area, it’s a great time to look.

Florida Condos Are a Great Way to Take Advantage of Homebuyer Rebates

Friday, February 20th, 2009

One of the key factors that was a part of the housing stimulus package was an increase in the amount of the rebate for first time homebuyers. For those who have been living in Northeastern Florida who have alaways wanted to have a home in Jacksonville, Ponce Inlet, Jacksonville Beach, Daytona Beach and other nearby communities, looking into Florida condos creates a great opportunity.

When you start to look into Florida condos as a first time home buyer – especially now – you are going to find that you’re able to save on the cost of a home. Because real estate sales are down in many parts of the area, Florida condos are already an affordable option for those looking to buy. With the additional rebate for first time homebuyers who know that they want to live in the area, it’s hard to imagine the time to buy getting much better.

If you are thinking about buying a Florida condo, you’re going to want to take a look at:

  • What you’re looking for in a condo
  • What part of Florida you want to live in
  • What sort of layout you would like your Florida condo to have
  • Whether or not you want to have a Florida condo that overlooks the ocean
  • What you want to live near

Looking at all of those elements is going to help you to determine where you will be able to find the Florida condo that will prove to be a great investment for you and your family.

What Makes Jacksonville Appealing to Those Looking for Florida Real Estate?

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

One of the things that you are going to want to consider if you have been looking into Florida real estate involves something remarkably simple: you are going to want to make sure that you are aware of what different communities have to offer. One of the areas that you are going to want to be sure of is that you are taking Jacksonville into consideration – especially if you want some of the beach vibe of Florida with the sense of living in a city as well.

(source)Jacksonville is the state’s largest city, both in population (800,000) and area (it stretches some 840 square miles – no city in the lower 48 states is bigger). It’s the eastern terminus of I-10, which runs all the way across the country to Santa Monica, California, and also a major city along the East Coast’s longest highway, I-95. As it’s just a couple of hours by car from both Savannah and Orlando, it’s pretty easy to get to or include on a road-trip through the Southeast.

The city doesn’t have quite the Spanish colonial look of some parts of northern Florida because a massive fire in 1901 effectively leveled the city, destroying more than 2,300 buildings. But what you will see in many of the city’s historic areas is a rich mix of Arts and Crafts, late Victorian-style, and Mediterranean Revival architecture.

In other words, if you are looking into Florida real estate and want to be sure that you’re able to have a style that feels like it’s your own, that you’re able to have access to both city elements and a more laid back area and that you’re able to know that you can kick back, then you’re going to want to be sure that you are at least considering Jacksonville.
