Knowing When the Time Is Right to Buy Daytona Beach Real Estate

Friday, March 20th, 2009

When you are thinking about buying Florida real estate, the first thing that you’re going to want to do is to make sure that you know where you are looking for property. If, say, you’re interested in buying Daytona Beach real estate, the next thing that you’re going to want to do involves narrowing down your options.

If you’re thinking about buying Daytona Beach real estate, you’re going to want to make sure that you consider whether you are looking for a condo, a townhouse or a single family home. You’re going to want to think about how close you want to be to the water, about how convenient you want shopping and the highways to be and about what all you want to be close to.

In other words, if you love NASCAR and you want to be sure that you’re relatively near the race track, when you are looking for Daytona Beach real estate, you’re going to want to keep this in mind; the same is true if you’re thinking about looking for a home that’s a little more quiet – in which case you might find yourself looking into Ponce Inlet homes for sale, homes that are nearby but that are in a less developed area.

Just by taking a closer look at these basics, you’re going to find that it’s that much easier to find the right Daytona Beach real estate for your needs. After all, just covering the basics is going to help you focus on looking into those homes that best meet your needs.

For Jacksonville’s Runners, Tomorrow Is Race Day

Friday, March 13th, 2009

On Florida’s First Coast – in areas like Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Ponce Inlet and St. Augustine, among others – usually race day refers to the Daytona 500. However, given that the year’s NASCAR kickoff has already happened, race day is a little bit different. Tomorrow, when race day comes to Jacksonville, it’s going to be for runners in the area.

Given that more than 15,000 runners are expected to be in Jacksonville for the event, it makes sense that there will be some roads closed. For those who are living in Jacksonville and those who are thinking about heading into town tomorrow, it’s a good idea to take note of the following road closures:

7:20 am — The Main Street Bridge will close in both directions

7:30 am — The Hart Bridge will close southbound (leaving downtown)

7:30 am — JSO would like all participants to be parked in lots near stadium

7:45 am — The 5k starts

8:30 am — The River Run starts in front of Met Park

9:30 am — The Main Street Bridge is expected to reopen

11:30 am — The Hart Bridge southbound is expected to reopen — will close Sunday night at 9 pm-Monday 6 am for repainting project

12 pm — River Run expo ends

Of course, even if you aren’t a runner or you’re not thinking about checking out the race, keep in mind that there is another reason to head into town tomorrow: the Irish Fest opens at Met Park at one in the afternoon – and that means there’s a chance to start celebrating St. Patrick’s Day a little bit earlier.

Florida Condos Are a Great Way to Take Advantage of Homebuyer Rebates

Friday, February 20th, 2009

One of the key factors that was a part of the housing stimulus package was an increase in the amount of the rebate for first time homebuyers. For those who have been living in Northeastern Florida who have alaways wanted to have a home in Jacksonville, Ponce Inlet, Jacksonville Beach, Daytona Beach and other nearby communities, looking into Florida condos creates a great opportunity.

When you start to look into Florida condos as a first time home buyer – especially now – you are going to find that you’re able to save on the cost of a home. Because real estate sales are down in many parts of the area, Florida condos are already an affordable option for those looking to buy. With the additional rebate for first time homebuyers who know that they want to live in the area, it’s hard to imagine the time to buy getting much better.

If you are thinking about buying a Florida condo, you’re going to want to take a look at:

  • What you’re looking for in a condo
  • What part of Florida you want to live in
  • What sort of layout you would like your Florida condo to have
  • Whether or not you want to have a Florida condo that overlooks the ocean
  • What you want to live near

Looking at all of those elements is going to help you to determine where you will be able to find the Florida condo that will prove to be a great investment for you and your family.

Gearing Up for Tomorrow’s Daytona 500

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

Whether you’ve been a longtime fan of NASCAR or just started to get hooked when races started to be carried on the major networks, nothing says that racing season is underway quite like the Daytona 500. For those who live in Daytona Beach and in nearby areas, the event means an influx of tourists – particularly in areas in which there are a number of hotels.

But, let’s be frank: if you head to Daytona Beach each and every year for the big race and can’t want to spend your time where auto racing got its start, wouldn’t you rather have a place to stay that feels like home than another hotel room? Wouldn’t you love to call it a day and not worry about the rowdy renters down the hall coming back in the middle of the night after an evening of partying and gearing up for the big race?

One of the best things about owning a Daytona Beach condo is that when you know that you’ll be spending time in the area, you’ll also know that you’ve got a great place to unwind at the end of the day. At this point, you’re going to find that there are some fantastic deals available, and you may just end up able to make a little extra money by renting the unit out when you aren’t going to be using it (and, these days, who couldn’t benefit from that).

In other words, while you’re gearing up for the big race, you might want to think about the benefits of buying real estate in the area – after all, there’s plenty around to enjoy.

Keeping in Shape Near Your First Coast Community

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

One of the things that you are going to find when you start to look into living in one of Florida’s First Coast communities – whether you are looking into a home in St. Augustine, Ponce Inlet, Jacksonville Beach, Daytona Beach or Jacksonville – is that while the beaches have a great deal of appeal for those living in the area, one of the biggest benefits is that there are plenty of opportunities for those who want to get into (and stay in) shape.

Simply put, those who are in the Jacksonville area and who call the First Coast home are likely to find themselves taking advantage of the health benefits of running on the beach rather than on paved surfaces – between increased resistance and less impact on one’s knees, the opportunities are idea. Likewise, those who are looking to get out and enjoy biking, those who want to take hikes through natural areas and those interested in participating in a variety of sports are going to find that the area has a lot to offer.

One of the best things about living in an area where it’s easy to just get outside and to get into shape is that all of a sudden you have fewer excuses. As a result, you’ll be able to meet your neighbors, make sure friends and to just enjoy the whole experience more.

Soon, Those Looking to Cruise Out of Jacksonville Will Have that Option

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

While it’s not a far trip for those who are living in Ponce Inlet, St. Augustine, Jacksonville, Daytona Beach or other nearby communities to travel down to Port Canaveral if they’re looking for a quick getaway at sea, it looks as though – within the next years, provided everything passes – they will have another option:

(source)The Jacksonville Planning Commission this month agreed to allow the construction of a Cruise terminal at Mayport Florida, near the ocean on the St. Johns River. But the wishes of the locals were also met when the panel ruled that the Jacksonville Port Authority must ensure that docks are available for the commercial fishing boats that will be displaced by the cruise ship berths.

The recommendation will go to the Jacksonville City Council, which is slated to vote this month on the port authority’s rezoning application for the waterfront land in Mayport. The port has bought land large enough for a five-level parking garage and two-story cruise terminal, replacing the current cruise ship dock just west of the Dames Point Bridge

It sounds good in theory – especially for residents who want to be sure that they aren’t giving anything up to accommodate the terminal. With additional docks for local fisherman and the increased revenue that will come to the area with a cruise port, it looks like a win for everyone.

Florida Coastal Homes Mean That You Won’t Need to Change Plans to Save

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

These days, there is a whole lot of talk about the fact that people are cutting back on travel in an effort to save money. One of the things that you might want to think about – particularly if you enjoy traveling to the coastal areas of Florida like Jacksonville Beach, Daytona Beach, Amelia Island and St. Augustine – is that if you were able to get a fantastic deal an a coastal condo, you wouldn’t have to stop traveling to save the way that many others have:

(source) Economists say fewer tourists are coming to the Sunshine State. And they say part of the reason is the budget problem.

The state’s tourism director says 650,000 fewer visitors came to Florida in the last quarter than the same time period last year.

First Coast News found out that even those who are still visiting are spending less.

When you have your own property, you won’t have to:

  • Focus on comparing rates at various hotels
  • Worry about the high cost of going out for all of your meals
  • Determine what you’re going to do to get to the kids fed in the middle of the day when you’re at the beach

In other words, you are going to find that you’re in a great position to travel, to save and to avoid sacrifice.

What Does the Daytona Beach Area Have to Offer?

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

For those who are looking into the opportunity to have a home in the area around Daytona Beach, one of the things that you are going to want to understand is what the area has to offer.

Whether you are a student who is looking for the chance to go to school in the area or you are looking for the opportunity to have a vacation home or you’re looking for the opportunity to live in a great area where you will be able to raise a family, the Daytona Beach area – along with nearby areas like Ponce Inlet, Jacksonville and St. Augustine – is a great place to start looking.

You’re going to find that there’s fantastic weather. If you love the water, you’re going to love the fact that you’re right on the beach and that you will have the chance to surf, swim or hang with the kids on the sand, Daytona Beach is going to give you all of those opportunities. If you’re looking for easy access to vacation areas, quality schools, restaurants where you’ll be able to get a great meal or you just want to find a great home that matches your needs, Daytona Beach is a fantastic place to start looking.

Enjoying the Arts in Jacksonville

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

One of the best things about living on Florida’s First Coast is that it’s so easy to make an effort to get out and take part in a vibrant arts community. Traveling exhibits that stop at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Jacksonville give those who live on the First Coast the chance to experience things that they wouldn’t see elsewhere:

(source)“It was almost as if we increased the size of our staff by about 19 people when we unpacked and installed these pieces,” said Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Jacksonville Director Debbie Broder Thursday as she toured the museum’s new exhibit, “Ultra-Realistic Sculpture by Marc Sijan.”

Sijan’s life-size sculptures represent one of three new exhibits at MOCA on display through Jan. 4, joining a collection of new works by some of Jacksonville’s most well-known local artists and a new addition to the museum’s permanent collection.

One of the best parts about living in Florida – whether you’re in Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Daytona Beach, Ponce Inlet or Jacksonville Beach – is that the local art community is thriving. More importantly, it’s also possible to get a sense of what other artists are doing as well. The arts are a vital part of the way that people see the world; why not live in a place where the arts are very much aline?
